Chimps have taught me over these years is that they’re so like us. They’ve blurred the line between human and animal. And just as we can’t turn our back on an orphan human child, we can’t turn our backs either on these guys. We just must not let these ecosystems collapse. And we have this window of time. We have the tools. We know how we can do things. But will we? Imagine our human race is at the entrance of a long, dark tunnel, at the end of which is a little star. That’s hope. It isn’t good sitting at the mouth of the tunnel and wishing that hope would come to us?
