Friday’s big stock stories: What’s likely to move the market in the next trading session

Here’s what CNBC TV’s producers were watching as the S & P 500 posted another record close, and what’s on the radar for the next session. Nine weeks and counting with Apple The iPhone maker has the juice right now. Apple shares have posted nine straight winning weeks. CNBC TV’s Carl Quintanilla highlighted that Thursday morning on ” Squawk on the Street .” The stock is on pace for another positive week. The stock has gained more than 15% in the past month. Since March 16, the stock has gained about 24%. Shares hit another new high this week. AAPL 1M mountain Apple shares in the past month Dell’s big run If you follow this column, you’ll know that Snowflake was up about 35% in extended trading Wednesday night . On Thursday night, Dell stole the show. Shares are up nearly 40% after hours. Dell trounced earnings estimates in Thursday evening’s release. The company reported year-over-year revenue growth of 88%. Counting the after-hours move, the stock has gained 111% in the past month. Shares traded around $437 overnight. Johnson & Johnson CEO Joaquin Duato will join the ” Squawk Box ” team — Becky Quick, Joe Kernen and Andrew Ross Sorkin — Friday morning ahead of the start of the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s annual meeting, which is set to kick off in Chicago that day. Johnson & Johnson is off 8% from the March high. The stock has gained 11.5% in the past six months. JNJ 6M mountain Johnson & Johnson in the past six months Semis in full power mode CNBC TV’s Kristina Partsinevelos will look at the major runs for semiconductor stocks. The VanEck Semiconductor ETF (SMH) is up 18% in May. It has gained 47% in the past three months. Astera Labs is the top performing stock in the ETF, up almost 80% in May. Micron is up 78% in May. Arm Holdings is up 59% in May. Intel is up about 28% in May. Nvidia is up 7% in May. Software stocks The team on “Fast Money” led the hour with software’s run. The iShares Expanded Tech-Software Sector ETF (IGV) is up 14% in May. The ETF is down 19% from the September high. Nike shares, however, are down 40% from the August 2025 high. It is the second worst Dow performer so far in 2026. It’s also the worst Dow performer in three months. Buckle The retailer with stores in more than 40 states, including the Ridgedale Center in Minnetonka, Minn., reports Friday morning before the bell. The stock has lost 5.7% in the past three months. Buckle is off 18% from the September high. It’ll be interesting to hear what executives say about the impact of higher fuel prices and inflation on consumer spending at Buckle.
